About the Workshop

College can be a time of transformation but also significant stress. Whether you’re a student navigating your own mental health, parents supporting your student, or professors or staff members searching for ways to help, this full-day training is for you.

Join us for a practical, solution-focused workshop designed to equip higher education communities with tools to better recognize, respond to, and support mental health needs on campus.

This event is especially valuable for:

  • College students and/or their parents
  • Faculty and professors
  • Campus advisors, counselors, and student affairs professionals
  • Mental Health/Social Work Professionals wanting to learn about resources

Workshop Agenda

9:30–10:45 a.m.
 Understanding College Mental Health Challenges
 A foundational overview of common student concerns: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and first episode psychosis.

10:45–11:00 a.m.
 Break

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
 QPR Suicide Prevention Training
 Learn how to Question, Persuade, and Refer—three critical steps to help someone in crisis.

12:00–12:30 p.m.
 Lunch (included with registration)

12:30–1:45 p.m.
 Trauma-Informed Care and Self-Care in Higher Education
 Explore strategies to support yourself and others in a campus environment through breakout discussions.

1:45–2:00 p.m.
 Break

2:00–2:45 p.m.
 Student Voices Panel
 Hear directly from college students on issues such as:

  • The impact of social media on mental health
  • Academic pressure, perfectionism, and burnout
  • Loneliness in a hyperconnected world
  • Supporting marginalized identities on campus
  • The intersection of substance use and mental health
  • Transitioning from high school to college

2:45–3:30 p.m.
 Navigating Resources & Critical Incidents
 Breakout discussions on how to get help, including:

  • Campus-based supports
  • Mobile crisis response teams
  • The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
  • Critical incident response protocols
